It’s that time of the year when I get excited about planting some of my favorite flowers. One of my all time favorite flowers is the sunflower. To me they brighten up any patio or wherever you decide to plant them. Sunflowers are annuals, super easy and it quickly grows.
They come in different sizes, ready to pot dwarf size or the sunflowers that can grow to 15 feet tall. I love the ones that grow tall, my favorite by far. Sunflower seeds can sprout within a weeks time. They tolerate heat and poor soil. Great for me as I live in the southwest and soil in my garden is poor.
Another factor, sunflowers are pest and drought resistant. You can’t go wrong with that! They are a beautiful hardy flower for sure. Plant the sunflower seeds in a well draining soil pot or container. Make sure your sunflower pot gets full sun, warm temperatures and regular watering. I water mine every other day. For the biggest blooms I use Miracle-Gro for plants. You can find Miracle-Gro at most Supermarkets or garden center.
Sunflowers are very easy to grow and low maintenance. Excellent for small patios and large alike. Sometimes I just grow 3 large sunflowers in 3 different pots and place them throughout my patio. Talk about a statement. This gorgeous, single tall sunflower standing in the sun… Simply beautiful!
